Pointers and Tips when buying a car
Try to ensure that you are buying a specific car. Many dealers will take your
money and promise to deliver a car matching your specifications.
This encourages some to adjust mileages and other things to close the deal.
Pay your money ONLY after you know the specific chassis number of the unit,
and ALL of the relevant details about that car.
Find out what the price includes. What preparation and procedures are done on your car prior to delivery? Is it just a basic cleanup, and maybe an oil change? What are you paying for?
Find out what guarantee you have, and on what. Apart from wanting a warranty on the important mechanics of the car (engine, transmission etc.), you want to know what guarantee you have that the car will be delivered in the described condition. Suppose the car arrives with dents and scrapes that you did not see on the pictures?
PRICE IS NOT THE ONLY IMPORTANT FACTOR. Some dealers may be importing what is classified as "Accident" cars. These cars may have been in anything from a minor to major collision in Japan, and repaired. YES these units will be available cheaper, NO you do not want to buy one.
High mileage cars are also available cheaper in Japan, this only reinforces the reason why you should choose a specific car that you can identify by chassis number, photos etc. If someone tells you, don't worry it will be less than, 40,000 or 50,000km it means they don't know. It may mean that they will have to ensure it is before you receive it.
