REQUIREMENTS FOR PRIVATE AND COMMERCIAL VEHICLES
Please bring copies of the following documents when coming to inspect your vehicle(s):-
- Valid form of Identification (National ID Card or Passport)
- Valid Driver's Permit
- Valid Insurance
- Vehicle must be brought to be inspected
- Certified Copy/Extract
NOTE
- Please note: all engine and color changes MUST be registered at the Licensing Authority and stated on the Certified Copy matching the vehicle being inspected.
- All vehicles must be engine and underwashed. Please avoid using shock oil on your engine.
- Each vehicle costs $300.00 to inspect. You shall not be refunded if your vehicle fails the inspection. You will be given a period of time to fix the defects with your vehicle and return for inspection. Once you return within the time frame, you will not be required to pay the $300.00 again.
- Tip! You can do your own home inspection, ensuring your tires, windscreen, lights and other obvious things, are in good order.
PRIVATE VEHICLES
- Private Vehicles with a manufacture date (not the date of registration) of five years or older are required to have their vehicles inspected at an authorized testing station (private inspection garages)
- After the first inspection, vehicles are required to be inspected every two years
- Private Cars not exceeding a Tare Weight of 2,270 kgs
- The fee to conduct a vehicle inspection is $300.00
LIGHT COMMERCIAL VEHICLES
- Light Commercial Vehicles with a manufacture date (not the date of registration) of two years or older are required to have their vehicles inspected at an authorized testing station (private inspection garages)
- After the first inspection, vehicles are required to be inspected every two years
- Light Commercial Vehicles (T) Goods Motor Vehicles up to 3200 kgs M.G.W
- The fee to conduct a vehicle inspection is $300.00
HEAVY COMMERCIAL VEHICLES
- Commercial Vehicles "T" over 3200kgs M.G.W, "H" Taxis, "R" Rentals and others, are required to take their vehicles to Licensing Office compound for inspection
NON-INSPECTION OR EXPIRED INSPECTION STICKERS
- A person who fails to produce a vehicle for inspection or drives a vehicle without obtaining an inspection sticker and certificate commits an offence and is liable, on summary conviction, to a maximum fine of five thousand dollars (Regulation 21 (11)
